Frequently Asked Question

Configuring your entire phone account is a very simple process if you follow the steps below.  There are three main areas that need to be set up and each will only take about a minute.

Please note that you don't have to wait through the menu prompts to press buttons to navigate the phone tree:  just go ahead and press one number, wait a second, and then press the next number.  This will save you some time.

Finally, if you are a new employee, your default PIN is your four digit birthyear.

To update your Personal Greeting

• On a smaller Cisco phone (shown below), press the [Msgs] button.  On a larger Cisco phone, press the button with an envelope graphic.

• Type in your PIN followed by pound [#]  [if you don't know your PIN, please open a helpdesk request to have it reset]
• Press [4]
• Press [1]

To update your Recorded Name

• Select the [Msgs] button (or the envelope button)
• Type in your PIN followed by pound [#]
• Press [4]
• Press [3]
• Press [2]

To update your PIN

• Select the [Msgs] button (or the envelope button)
• Type in your PIN followed by pound [#]
• Press [4]
• Press [3]
• Press [1]

Our phone systems also have a number of additional special greetings that can be set up and used at special times.  (For example, using a different message when somebody leaves to go on vacation, or when it is important to provide alternate information to the caller after work hours.)  These are rarely used, but it is still be a good idea to check them to make sure that they are not configured with somebody else's voice.

(OPTIONAL) To update your Special Greetings

• Select the [Msgs] button (or the envelope button)
• Type in your PIN followed by pound [#]
• Press [4]
• Press [1]
• Press [3] to select which greeting to change (you can instead press [4] at this step to listen to all of your greetings in sequence)

  • Press [2] to change your Closed Greeting
  • Press [3] to change your Alternate Greeting
  • Press [4] to change your Busy Greeting
  • Press [5] to change your Internal Greeting
  • Press [6] to change your Holiday Greeting
