Cold and flu season can be challenging. Here are some guidelines from Attendance Works for parents about when to send students to school and when to keep them home:
Send to school if:
- student has a runny nose or just a little cough, but no other symptoms
- student hasn’t taken any fever reducing medicine for 24 hours and hasn’t had a fever during that time
- student hasn’t thrown up or had any diarrhea for 24 hours
Keep student at home if:
- student has a temperature higher than 100 degrees even after taking medicine
- student is throwing up or has diarrhea
- student’s eyes are pink and crusty
Call the doctor if:
- student has a temperature higher than 100 degrees for more than two days
